Walter Ahrens is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Dr. Ahrens advises domestic and foreign employers on a variety of collective and individual employment law issues. His practice focuses on workforce changes, works councils, employment contracts, terminations, pensions, benefits, and data privacy, particularly in a cross-border context. Dr. Ahrens represents clients in labor courts against employees, works councils, and trade unions.

From Frankfurt, Mr. Ahrens is part of our cross-practice Global Workforce team that provides integrated cross-border advice, counseling, and strategic planning across the spectrum of labor, employment, benefits, and immigration issues.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Dr. Ahrens was a partner in a leading international law firm in their employment, pensions, and benefits practice. He also worked for another international law firm in their New York head office in 1998 and 1999. Dr. Ahrens is fluent in German and English.

Mr. Ahrens is a contributing author to Getting the Deal Through — Labour and Employment, an annual series of deskbooks that provide international analysis in key areas of employment law and policy for corporate counsel, cross-border legal practitioners, and global team leaders. Mr. Ahrens has authored feature chapters in Getting the Deal Through — Labour and Employment 2006–2012.

Dr. Ahrens is admitted to practice in Germany.
