In 2011, the SEC and FINRA continued their vigorous enforcement of the securities laws, resulting in an increase in enforcement cases brought against broker-dealers, with a 60% increase in such SEC enforcement actions and a 13.5% increase in FINRA disciplinary actions since 2010.

Nicholas J. Losurdo is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Investment Management Practice. Mr. Losurdo's practice focuses on broker-dealer and securities exchange matters.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Losurdo served as counsel to an SEC-regulated options trading facility, where he was responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with a broad array of regulatory matters, including trading rule and listings compliance and evaluation of SEC rulemaking initiatives.

Mr. Losurdo earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2006, where he focused on regulatory areas of the law. While in law school, he completed an internship with the Boston Stock Exchange, where he was exposed to SRO and securities regulation issues. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Losurdo worked for a global custody, transfer agent, and fund accounting company, where he focused on SEC periodic reporting and disclosure matters. Mr. Losurdo earned his B.S. in finance and computer information systems from Stonehill College in 2001.

Mr. Losurdo is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Massachusetts.
