Dennis J. Valenza is of counsel in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Valenza's practice focuses on a variety of complex litigation matters, including asbestos, product liability, toxic tort, insurance coverage and workplace violence cases in state and federal courts in jurisdictions throughout the country. He has represented defendants in asbestos property damage and personal injury cases for 20 years, and has tried cases in jurisdictions throughout the country, including the state courts in California, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, Tennessee and South Carolina, among others. He also serves as national counsel for defendants with asbestos cases, and in that capacity supervises all aspects of the defense effort. This includes the selection and training of local counsel, the coordination of discovery, the identification and preparation of both corporate representatives and expert witnesses, motion practice, trial and settlement strategy. He also coordinates communications with his clients' insurance carriers.
In addition, Mr. Valenza serves as national counsel for firm clients involved in silica litigation. Mr. Valenza's early practice involved environmental law and hazardous waste law cases, with a particular emphasis on cost recovery and contribution actions under CERCLA. He has handled matters involving real estate construction lending, medical malpractice claims, criminal defense, and general counseling regarding workplace violence policies and related issues.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Valenza served as a law clerk for Judge Paul Chalfin of the Court of Common Pleas of the County of Philadelphia. He earned his J.D. from the Temple University School of Law in 1981.
Mr. Valenza is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
