Robert W. Busby is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Busby focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation. He also has prepared and prosecuted a wide range of patent applications on various technologies and products, including semiconductor devices, semiconductor fabrication methods, liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, cameras, printers, electronic games, medical devices, confocal microscopes, survey equipment, and laser rangefinders.
Mr. Busby has represented clients in all aspects of district court litigation, including leading jury trials and handling claim construction hearings, and he has had significant participation in ITC proceedings. He has traveled to Asia many times to analyze and negotiate patent and technology development license agreements for numerous technologies, including playing a leading role in developing cross-licenses in the semiconductor and LCD industries.
Before joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Busby was a partner in the intellectual property group of a large international law firm. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Busby served in the U.S. Navy for 11 years, beginning as an electronics technician and ending as an officer on a nuclear submarine.
Mr. Busby received his J.D., with high honors, from George Washington University Law School in 1997 and his B.S.E.E. from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1989.
Mr. Busby is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
