Morgan Lewis's Wendy Pan will chair the "Beyond the Border & Beyond the Boundary" panel at the 2010 BioInternational Convention.
The line between innovative companies and generic companies is becoming blurry as major pharmaceutical companies move into the off-patent and generics world and generic companies take a growing interest in innovative drugs. Additional convolutions come with the movement across geographic borders, as evidenced by global pharmaceutical companies’ acquisitions of non-U.S. generic companies and non-U.S. generic companies’ increasing interest in licensing/acquiring innovative drug products/candidates from western companies. The panel will analyze the reasons and motivations of such cross-border/cross-boundary movements, discuss risks and benefits unique to companies with cross-border/cross-boundary operations, and share tactics in managing (perceived) internal conflicts and leveraging resources to create synergies.
