SAN FRANCISCO, July 11, 2018: Morgan Lewis represented United Microelectronics Corporation (NYSE: UMC; TWSE: 2303), a leading global semiconductor foundry headquartered in Taiwan, in its acquisition of all of the shares of Mie Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited, a 300mm wafer foundry joint venture between United Microelectronics Corporation and Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited.
As indicated in a press release issued by Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited, the consideration of the transaction will be approximately $520 million (JPY 57.6 billion). It is scheduled to close on January 1, 2019, pending approval by governmental authorities in Taiwan, Japan, and the United States.
