ERISA’s 40th anniversary was on September 2, 2014. On September 17, 2014, our Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice discussed ERISA’s successes, challenges, and policies in the 21st century.
We provided a brief review of ERISA’s many positive effects over the last four decades and took a look at the future for retirement plan funding and operation, retirement income structures, employer stock in qualified plans, ERISA litigation trends, employee stock ownership plans, the effects of ERISA on health and welfare plans, and the potential for legislative changes going forward.
