Alex D. Berger represents organizations and individuals in complex litigation matters, government and regulatory investigations, and corporate internal investigations. Alex has experience defending BIPA class actions in Illinois state courts and, is currently defending BIPA class action matters in Cook County, Illinois. Handling all phases of litigation, Alex has experience counseling clients in a variety of areas, including the False Claims Act, consumer protection, and privacy. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Alex served in the United States Army and the Illinois National Guard as an infantry non-commissioned officer.
Alex also maintains an active pro bono practice representing distressed tenants involved in municipal eviction court proceedings, asylum seekers in immigration proceedings, and prisoners asserting civil rights claims.
While in law school, Alex was a member of the Illinois Law Review and the University of Illinois College of Law’s Trial Team, Frederick Green Moot Court, and Federal Civil Rights Clinic, where he represented inmates pursuing claims under Section 1983 in the Central District of Illinois. He was also an extern with the Champaign County Public Defender’s Office.
During his six years of service in the United States Army and Illinois National Guard, he performed a variety of command, training, and administrative roles, including a combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
