Alicia M. Fraind, Ph.D., focuses her practice on intellectual property (IP) matters including performing prior art searches, drafting patent applications, and patent prosecution. Alicia practices in the life sciences space where she works on technologies such as small molecules, polymers, and light emitting diodes, as well as biomarkers and genetic markers associated with a disease or disorder.

Before joining Morgan Lewis, Alicia was a patent agent at a multi-practice firm in Philadelphia. She also worked as a patent agent in a boutique IP firm in the Philadelphia area.

Prior to becoming a patent agent, Alicia worked as a chemical searcher for the US Patent and Trademark Office where she performed chemical structure and text searches for patent examiners. Alicia’s research experience includes a postdoctoral position studying the interaction between synaptotagmin and SNARE proteins and their role in neurotransmitter release. Her graduate research focused on understanding charge localization and delocalization in organic conducting polymers.
