Ashley J. Hersutamto draws on her industry and regulatory experience to advise investment advisers and US and offshore private investment funds. Ashley focuses on all aspects of private fund formation and ongoing operation, including offering document and fund agreement drafting and negotiation as well as regulatory and compliance matters arising under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and other US securities laws.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ashley was a securities compliance examiner in the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations. Based in Boston during her time with the Commission, Ashley examined the regulatory compliance and overall operations of investment managers, including private fund managers, and registered and unregistered investment companies throughout New England.
Before law school, Ashley managed the operations of a boutique private fund administrator and affiliated law firm whose clients were solely start-up private funds and their managers. She strives to leverage the industry and regulatory knowledge she has accumulated throughout her career to assist the clients she advises.
Ashley also previously served as in-house counsel of a large custodial bank where she advised on US bank regulatory matters.
