Andrew Southerling represents corporations, financial institutions, and individuals in US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), US Department of Justice (DOJ), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and other regulator investigations and enforcement proceedings. He also conducts internal investigations on behalf of corporate management and boards of directors. Andrew joined Morgan Lewis after a six-year tenure at the SEC in the Division of Enforcement.
Andrew has a comprehensive background in securities regulation and enforcement. During his tenure in the SEC’s Enforcement Division, Andrew investigated and led significant civil and administrative enforcement actions related to many enforcement program areas, including municipal securities, accounting, financial reporting, broker-dealer and adviser fraud, and insider trading. Andrew also conducted parallel investigations with the DOJ, and worked closely with FINRA and other federal and state agencies.
Before joining the SEC, Andrew was a litigation associate with a prominent Philadelphia law firm. His international background includes advanced academic coursework at the University of Hamburg and the Goethe Institute. Andrew has worked for two large multinational manufacturing companies, Hauni Werke, AG and Kunstoffe Kruger, AG, in Hamburg, Germany.
Andrew is conversant in German.
