Catherine S. Chou provides intellectual property prosecution services for clients in a variety of technological fields. Catherine has a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, with experience in areas such as digital and analog hardware design, software development, augmented and virtual reality systems, semiconductor materials and devices, quantum computing, machine learning, image processing, and satellite and telecommunications.
Catherine focuses her practice on patent prosecution and counseling, assisting clients with patent procurement and portfolio development both domestically and internationally. She also has experience performing IP due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses.
Before attending law school, Catherine worked for four years as an engineer at Apple, developing power management and battery technologies, and is a co-inventor on a number of patents. She has performed research at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the California Institute of Technology, and Qualcomm. During law school, Catherine was a member of the UCLA Law Review and founded the Intellectual Property Law Association.
