Carole R. Klein uses her background in complex intellectual property (IP) transactions to advise clients on trademarks, copyrights, and licensing. She drafts and negotiates the IP aspects of commercial transactions and licenses for the production and distribution of a wide range of consumer, pharmaceutical, financial, and industrial products. Carole handles the full range of trademark activities, including developing national and international trademark protection strategies, clearing and prosecuting trademark applications, managing global trademark portfolios, and enforcing and protecting IP portfolios on a global level.
Carole plays a leading role in the Advisory Council of the National Council for Transgender Equality (NCTE), of which Morgan Lewis is a member. She is also a member of the steering committee for TransLAW, a sponsored organization of NCTE. Carole regularly staffs the monthly Name and Gender Marker Change clinics co-sponsored by TransLAW and Whitman-Walker Health, and has researched and written 50-state guides for assisting individuals with name and gender marker changes on legal documents.
Carole also has teamed with other professionals to assist local nonprofits on board development and strategic alignment activities through the Compass organization. Carole is active in professional associations, in particular the International Trademark Association (INTA), where she serves on the Editors Subcommittee of the INTA’s Public Information Committee.
