Dana E. Becker is a litigator who handles complex business disputes, primarily commercial contract cases and disputes involving business competition, trade secrets, intellectual property, and various business torts, in both US federal and state courts as well as alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Dana also has experience in antitrust and class action litigation as well as government investigations and qui tam actions brought under the False Claims Act. Dana handles all phases of litigation, from pre-complaint investigations through complex discovery, trial, and post-trial appeals.

Dana has federal jury trial experience, which includes preparing witnesses to give testimony, examining witnesses, and preparing and opposing pre- and post-trial motions and other submissions.

Dana has knowledge across a broad range of industries, including the medical device, pharmaceutical, technology, publishing, energy, financial services, and insurance industries. She also has experience managing a portfolio of litigation and providing strategic business advice, including based on her time as in-house counsel managing commercial litigation for a global media and technology company. Dana works closely with both large and small clients to develop and implement risk management strategies.

Dana maintains an active pro bono practice, including serving as trial counsel in a federal trial of a disability rights matter that culminated in a jury verdict and an award of damages in her client’s favor and representing a client in a successful petition for asylum. In addition, she has served as a member of the Philadelphia office’s Recruiting Committee. Prior to joining the firm, Dana clerked for Judge Franklin S. Van Antwerpen of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Immediately prior to attending law school, she worked as a senior analyst at a global investment bank, providing debt capital markets solutions for clients in the telecom, media, and technology space.

Represented one of the world’s leading orthopedic implant manufacturer in the defense of a $15 million False Claims Act retaliation case filed by a former sales team leader, which culminated in a complete defense verdict in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and a jury verdict in our client’s favor on its counterclaims for breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract.
Represented an international publishing company against numerous copyright infringement lawsuits in federal courts across the country.
Represented a leading medical device company in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey in the defense of equitable and legal claims of unfair competition and tortious interference asserted by an industry competitor stemming from allegations of corporate raiding of sales representatives.
Represented a national drugstore chain in obtaining the dismissal of a False Claims Act qui tam action brought in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
