Daniel Yong specializes in investment funds and cross-border private equity and mergers and acquisitions transactions. He represents sovereign wealth funds, private equity managers, and corporate clients in the financial services, real estate, telecommunications, and energy industries. Fund managers, capital markets service providers, and clearing houses often seek Daniel’s advice regarding the licensing requirements under Singapore’s Securities and Futures Act. He routinely manages complex transactional matters in the Asia- Pacific region, including India.
Daniel understands the multilayer issues often facing fund and private equity clients when structuring high-stakes deals. He aligns business objectives with the appropriate legal strategy to bring deals through to completion. Among his successful transactions are establishing a $1 billion private equity fund investing in Chinese real estate assets and establishing a $150 million clean energy fund.
Daniel started practicing law as a State Counsel and Deputy Public Prosecutor with the Attorney General’s Chambers in Singapore. He has been in private practice for more than 12 years with leading US and UK firms. His law firm leadership experience includes establishing and growing an investment funds practice.
