David R. Kocan utilizes his prior experience as a programmer, as well as his M.B.A, to represent high-tech clients in patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret disputes involving software, mobile device, semiconductor, and flash memory technologies. David has experience in many phases of litigation in cases before federal district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the US International Trade Commission. In addition, David has also advised companies on tech transactions, data privacy, data security, and IP licensing matters.
While in law school, David earned the best advocate award as a moot court competitor and served as editor in chief of the Case Western Reserve University Journal of International Law. He also served as a judicial extern for Judge Edmund A. Sargus, Jr. of the US District for the Southern District of Ohio and as a legal intern for Ohio’s Attorney General.
