David Waldron is a Solicitor Advocate and accredited mediator. He counsels clients regarding insolvency and restructuring and international commercial, oil, gas, and energy litigations and arbitration.

David’s international commercial disputes experience includes industrial projects; infrastructure projects; private equity, derivatives, supply agreements, sale agreements, joint ventures, fraud, investigations, and asset tracing.

David is actively involved in bankruptcy and restructuring, including international insolvency, particularly where there are follow up actions regarding assets and tracing.

He has managed cross-border disputes in jurisdictions such as Australia, Belgium, Cayman, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. In major offshore jurisdictions, he manages insolvency proceedings, litigation, asset tracing, and asset freezing. He also handles disputes in the High Court of England & Wales and in appeals. In addition, he is authorized to conduct proceedings at the Dubai International Financial Centre courts.

David has litigated and arbitrated many disputes in the oil, gas, and energy industry, including gas supply agreements, pipeline agreements, refinery fires, fraud, seismic provisions, and CO2 allowances.

David’s international arbitration work includes hearings before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the International Chamber of Commerce, and the London Court of International Arbitration.

  • Advised Credit Insurers during the insolvency of a retail clothing chain of stores.
  • Advised an agribusiness in its claim for damages arising out of a major construction project.
  • Advised the seller of a pharma company in defence of post-closing litigation.
  • Managed the hearings of a financial company’s solvent Scheme of Arrangement.
  • Advised an insurance company contesting a Scheme of Arrangement and Information to which it is entitled.
  • Represented Asian bankruptcy trustees in the English aspects of insolvency procedures following a major fraud.
  • Represented an oil company in an arbitration claim for damages for claims of breach of contract and tort arising out of a gas supply contract.
  • Advised an oil company in arbitration defending a claim from a shareholder/joint venture partner regarding duties arising in the company/joint venture.
  • Defending an IT company in claims arising from a software consulting project.
  • Represented a power provider in High Court proceedings regarding ownership of CO2 emission credits.
  • Defending a seismic company in multiple arbitrations brought by an agent for contractual damages regarding development of business in a predefined geographic area.
