Ed Cottrell focuses his practice on the management of high-stakes, complex litigation, particularly product liability, toxic tort, intellectual property, financial services, and insurance recovery litigation. Ed has successfully represented clients in a variety of federal and state courts and agencies. He has a background in software development, and is engaged in the development of various software platforms and tools to assess risk, optimize litigation strategies, and deliver results to litigation clients.

Ed has managed high-stakes litigation involving claims of defective or inherently dangerous products, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and insurance liability. He has also represented clients in administrative agency proceedings, arbitrations, and appellate briefing.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ed served as a staff attorney to Justice Harvey Brown of the Texas First Court of Appeals. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and religious studies from Rice University.
