Elizabeth M. Bresnahan advises clients on general litigation matters, with a focus on complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts. She works with clients across a variety of sectors, including financial services, pharmaceutical, and retail.

Elizabeth maintains an active pro bono practice. She has experience advocating for families in negotiating special education plans with the Boston Public Schools, and has advised various nonprofit organizations in obtaining and maintaining 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, as well as on corporate and employment matters.

As a pro bono fellow from 2010-2011, Elizabeth advised low-income individuals and nonprofit corporations on various advocacy and corporate governance matters. During her pro bono fellowship, Elizabeth traveled to Ecuador to meet with foreign co-counsel and to experience the mission of a firm pro bono client that cultivates a Catholic volunteer and retreat program based in Duran, Ecuador. 

During law school, Elizabeth was an extern for Judge Carolyn Engel Temin of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County in the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania. She was also previously an intern for the Employment Civil Rights Clinic at WilmerHale Legal Services Center.

  • Represented a family-owned business in land use compliance and permitting matters arising at several marine terminals located in several jurisdictions along the east coast, as well as in navigating a variety of business and development initiatives
  • Represented a laboratory instrument and software company in various contractual disputes
  • Defended a restaurant chain in putative class action under Massachusetts Minimum Fair Wage Law and Tips Act
  • Represented students with a disability pro bono in federal class action against a city and its public school system alleging violations of Title II of the ADA
  • Represented a real estate developer in disputes involving contractors, sub-contractors and homeowners
  • Defended a biomedical company in federal litigation arising from international distribution of regulated medical devices
