An internationally known litigator, mediator, counselor, and strategic adviser, Fred F. Fielding has served three US presidents. Fred is a skilled negotiator, and is known for his handling of the most complex, sensitive issues and his ability to navigate all sides of a problem. He is the leader of the firm’s Washington strategic government relations and counseling practice, and he also regularly advises clients on corporate services, government affairs, and crisis management issues, as well as internal investigations and white collar litigation.
Fred provides legal representation and counseling to both corporations and individuals. Clients turn to him for advice on US government and congressional investigations, as well as US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) issues and other anticorruption matters. A litigator by training and experience, Fred also arbitrates major international and domestic disputes and is currently serving his third term as US member of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Fred served as White House counsel to Presidents George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. He also served in the Nixon White House as deputy counsel and associate counsel.
His long record of public service also includes serving as commissioner of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (commonly referred to as the 9/11 Commission) as well as on the US Secretary of Transportation’s Task Force on Aviation Disasters, the Arbitral Tribunal on the US-UK Air Treaty Dispute, the President’s Commission on Federal Ethics Law Reform, the Commission on White House Fellows, and the Administrative Conference of the United States.
Fred sits on the boards of numerous charitable and public corporations, and is active in numerous bar-related activities.
