Gregory T. Fouts advises clients on complex litigation matters—focusing on consumer class action defense. Handling cases in federal and state courts around the United States, Greg primarily represents financial services firms, and other clients offering consumer financial services in purported class actions that claim his clients have violated federal statutes, state consumer fraud statutes, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract. He also represents consumer products manufacturers, defending them in suits claiming statutory fraud and breach of warranty.
In addition to defending class action cases, Greg represents in investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation brought by regulators including the CFPB, the OCC, and state attorneys general.
Greg’s experience also includes representing clients in commercial disputes. He also defends clients in accounting malpractice suits, as well as lender liability, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty.
As part of his active pro bono practice, Greg was part of a team that secured a $1.8 million settlement on behalf of James Andrews, a victim of mistreatment by the Chicago Police. He also has represented clients in habeas corpus and immigration proceedings.

Represent an internet marketing a company in numerous class action lawsuits in cases around the country, alleging consumer fraud and violations of various federal statutes in marketing of membership programs
Represented a large national bank in settlement of investigations by the OCC, CFPB, and numerous state attorneys general regarding collections litigation and debt collection practices
Represent a major Internet retailer in class action alleging consumer fraud in connection with the sale of discount vouchers.
Represent a large national bank in class action litigation arising from the Volkswagen “clean diesel” affair
Represent a prominent ride-sharing company in litigation alleging unfair competition and fraud
