Georgette A. Schaefer advises organizations on private fund investments including private equity, venture, hedge, mezzanine, distressed debt, real estate, and infrastructure funds, as well as customized captive funds and separate accounts. Her clients include many of the largest pension funds in the United States, investment managers, universities, insurance companies, and other institutional investors with respect to their investment programs. Recognized by Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers and Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Georgette frequently speaks on private investment fund matters.
Georgette has presented at meetings of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA); the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA), where she serves on the Executive Board and is the Board liaison to the Investment Section; the American College of Life Insurance Counsel (ACIC), where she previously served as a member of the Education Committee; and the Private Equity Women Investor Network (PE WIN), where she is a member of the Executive Board. Georgette is also ranked in the Legal 500, listed in The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers – Private Funds and has been a BTI Client Service All Star recipient.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Georgette was senior vice president and counsel at USLIFE Corp. She also spent seven years as a regulatory and investment attorney for AXA Equitable.
