John Deck counsels clients in complex commercial disputes involving a wide variety of matters, including breach of contract, tortious interference, fraudulent transfer, insurance recovery and environmental enforcement. He represents clients before US federal and state courts, government agencies, and arbitration tribunals. John has experience in all phases of litigation, including responding to complaints, analyzing discovery, drafting dispositive motions, assisting in trial, and preparing appellate briefs. In addition, John is committed to pro bono work, representing clients in constitutional, immigration, and small-claims matters.
Before joining Morgan Lewis, John clerked for Judge George P. Kazen of the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas and Justice Jane Bland of the Texas Court of Appeals. During his clerkships, John assisted in nearly every facet of civil and criminal proceedings. In addition, he helped update the criminal pattern jury instructions for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
