Jesús Castillón represents clients, especially those in the energy industry, in a variety of technology, outsourcing, and commercial transactions matters. Jesús acts as outside counsel with lead-lawyer responsibilities for a diverse group of clients in the energy, technology, and financial services sectors. He focuses on technology-related matters, including drafting and negotiating high-risk technology and data-related agreements, global outsourcing agreements, transition services agreements, product service agreements, procurement agreements, commercial contracts, licensing agreements, including cloud-based software license agreements, software as a service (SaaS) agreements, distribution agreements, and other services transactions. Jesús is bilingual and negotiates in both English and Spanish.
As part of his practice, Jesús has had the unique experience of working within the legal department of one of the world’s largest oilfield services providers for temporary periods to cover special projects as in-house counsel. During this time, he has handled a wide range of matters, including commercial transactions, data privacy and cybersecurity, employment, and pre-litigation dispute resolution matters. Jesús also provides litigation support to his transactional clients as the need arises. This experience gives Jesús a unique perspective when negotiating for his clients.
Jesús serves as the co-chair of the State Bar of Texas’ Minority Counsel Program, a client development, networking, and CLE event for diverse attorneys in the state.
