John Paul Guyette focuses his practice on general employment counseling and litigation. John defends employers in various sectors against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour violations in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, John worked as an assistant corporation counsel in the Labor and Employment Division of the New York City Law Department. At the Law Department, John represented the City of New York in its role as employer and handled a broad range of employment litigation matters, ranging from single plaintiff discrimination cases to complex federal class and collective actions. In 2016, John was recognized with the Labor and Employment Division Chief Award for outstanding service on behalf of the City of New York.
Upon graduation from CUNY Law School, John served as one of the inaugural pro bono scholars in New York. During his service, John worked at the Legal Aid Society in their Employment Law Unit, providing 500 hours of pro bono legal services to low-income New Yorkers on a range of employment and benefit matters.
