A former Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Texas, John C. Sullivan focuses his practice on appellate litigation and interfacing with government entities on behalf of clients. He has served as lead counsel in both the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Texas Supreme Court, as well as represented clients at all stages of US Supreme Court litigation and in various circuit courts throughout the county. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, John was a law clerk for Chief Judge Edith H. Jones of the Fifth Circuit.
He currently serves as president of the Dallas Lawyers’ Chapter of the Federalist Society.
While in law school, John earned the Farabaugh Prize for high scholarship in law and was the top student in the Program of Law, Ethics, and Public Policy (making the Dean’s List every semester while maintaining a part-time job and working as a teaching assistant). In addition to being executive editor (deputy editor-in-chief) of the Notre Dame Law Review, he served as president of the Married Law Students Association and was a member of the Federalist Society and the Native American Law Students Association.
Before law school, John interned for Chief Justice Jim Wright of the Texas Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
