Jonathan is a senior associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and also an associate director at Morgan Lewis Stamford LLC, a Singapore law corporation affiliated with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
Jonathan Tang advises on restructurings, workouts, and corporate insolvency. Jonathan regularly advises and represents insolvency professionals, companies, and creditors in judicial management, scheme of arrangement, and winding up proceedings before the Singapore High Court. In particular, he has significant experience in the seeking of orders for moratoria, scheme of arrangement and rescue financing for crypto exchanges and publicly listed companies in Singapore, and in working with various insolvency professionals to complete the restructuring process.
He also acts for clients in a range of commercial litigation and arbitration matters.
In addition, Jonathan advises the firm’s global immigration clients on a range of employment-related queries and facilitates the global mobility of employees to the clients’ various Singapore offices.

Acting for a debtor company and its subsidiary fund in Jersey in moratorium and scheme of arrangement proceedings under Section 64(1) of the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act 2018 (IRDA) and Section 210(1) of the Companies Act
Acting for the Zipmex Group and its foreign subsidiaries in its restructuring process in Singapore under Section 64(1) of the IRDA, including the obtaining of a landmark judgment on the applicable test for recognizing a foreign company’s “substantial connection” to Singapore
Acting for a Catalist-listed company in its moratorium and scheme of arrangement proceedings under Section 64(1) of the IRDA and Section 210(1) of the Companies Act
Acting for a Catalist-listed company in its moratorium and scheme of arrangement proceedings under Section 64(1) of the IRDA and Section 210(1) of the Companies Act, including an application for rescue financing to be granted “Super-Priority” status under Section 67(1) of the IRDA

Acted for the creditors of a GIP fund in its judicial management proceedings, leading to the first approved prepackaged scheme of arrangement in Singapore
Acting and acted for various creditors in bankruptcy, scheme of arrangement, and judicial management proceedings before the Singapore High Court
Commercial Litigation and Arbitration
Acted for a bank in Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings against its private banking clients for sums due and owing under several complex financial investment products
Acted for a shareholder in complex arbitration proceedings in the SIAC for shareholders’ minority oppression, which included an emergency arbitration under the SIAC
Acted for a director in claims for breach of fiduciary duties under the Companies Act
Acted for a well-known insurance magnate for alleged breaches of non-solicitation and non-compete agreements
Acted for a shipyard in appeal proceedings before the Singapore Court of Appeal with respect to the dismissal of a joinder application by the Singapore High Court. The case was complex and featured cross-jurisdictional issues, including issues of English and Hong Kong insolvency law
