Kakoli Mitra, Ph.D. brings her experience as an interdisciplinary scientist to her patent law practice, where she focuses on the management and development of the patent portfolios of a broad spectrum of clients, including emerging companies, startup companies, universities, and companies in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and agribusiness sectors.
Kakoli practices in the area of intellectual property law with an emphasis on the prosecution and litigation of patents and on IP counseling. Her practice encompasses the management and development of patent portfolios, post-grant proceedings, freedom-to-operate analyses, patent landscape analyses, transactions, and patent litigation. Kakoli has experience in working with a broad spectrum of clients and technologies, enabling her to guide clients through complex issues involving capitalizing on and protecting their IP assets.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Kakoli was awarded the prestigious Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award in the Biomedical Sciences for her paradigm-shifting post-doctoral and doctoral research. She earned her J.D. from the George Washington University Law School, her Ph.D. and M.Phil. from Yale University, and a B.Sc. honours degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
