Kyoko Nagano focuses her practice on investment funds as well as other financial regulatory matters. She regularly advises leading global asset managers in connection with their Japanese operations and vis-à-vis institutional investors in Japan, primarily in private transactions. Kyoko also counsels domestic and international financial institutions in cross-border banking, insurance, securities matters, and advise on the engagement between a listed company and institutional investors, or in the dialogue between them, with respect to various topics, including environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues.
Additionally, Kyoko has experience representing non-Japanese clients in real estate investments in Japan using various transactional structures. She also assists her clients in day-to-day consultations on employment and general corporate matters. Kyoko is fluent in Japanese and English.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Kyoko was a partner of one of the largest law firms in Japan. Her former professional career includes being in-house counsel in the compliance department of one of the four largest Japanese securities firms. Kyoko started her career as a litigator at a domestic law office in Japan.
