Louis H. Singer advises US and international clients on private investment funds, including buyout, venture capital, real estate, hedge, distressed assets, energy, infrastructure, and credit funds. He also represents buyers and sellers in secondary transactions and asset managers in the formation of funds of funds and in co-investments. His clients include major pension funds, life insurance companies, universities, banking institutions, and alternative investment managers. Until September 30, 2019, Louis was the leader of Morgan Lewis’s 150-lawyer investment management practice.
Louis formerly served as a trustee and president of the American College of Investment Counsel, and as a member of the board of governors of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel.
His recent speaking engagements include presentations to the Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst Summit, the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys, the International Bar Association, Wharton Private Equity Partners, SuperReturn USA, the Institute for Private Investors, the New York City Bar Association, the American College of Investment Counsel, and the Association of Life Insurance Counsel.
Louis is listed in Band 1 in both Chambers Global and Chambers USA for Private Equity: Fund Formation: Investor Representation. In 2006, he was named by Private Equity International as one of the 30 most influential private equity lawyers in the world. He is one of only seven lawyers included in The Legal 500’s Hall of Fame for Private Equity Funds (including Venture Capital).
