With experience in all aspects of arbitration and litigation, Lewis Smith represents clients in all stages of their cases, from demand letters to post-hearing briefs. In between, he handles preliminary injunction hearings, document collection and production, discovery motions and hearings, depositions and final hearings. Lewis drafts summary judgment briefs, briefs in support of a motion to dismiss, and pre-hearing briefs. He has served as second chair in four final arbitration hearings.
Lewis has tried several cases before a jury through the Missouri City Municipal Court volunteer prosecutor program.
Lewis serves as the vice chair of the Houston office’s pro bono committee. His active pro bono practice includes representing clients seeking restitution damages, applying for US visas, seeking asylum, and seeking disability benefits in proceedings before a Social Security Administration administrative law judge.

Represented a state neurological injury compensation fund against a reinsurance pool in an arbitration concerning the commutation value of claims.
Represented a homeowners insurance company in a series of arbitrations against a managing general agent and related parties.
Represented a private security contractor operating in Afghanistan in related litigation and arbitration disputes with former business partner.
Represented a commercial real estate tenant in litigation against its landlord concerning the effect of landlord's construction on tenant's business.
Represented a reinsurance pool manager in arbitration against group insurance pool concerning whether pool's losses could be aggregated as a single occurrence.
