Dr. Maximilian Pika focuses his practice on international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and public international law. As counsel-team member and tribunal assistant, he worked on banking, energy, life sciences, mining, oil and gas, and TMT matters involving a welter of applicable treaties, arbitral rules (e.g.,ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, DIS, Swiss), national laws, and soft-law instruments. Maximilian is dual-qualified as an English barrister and in his native Germany.
During his doctorate on “Third-Party Effects of Arbitral Awards” (Kluwer, 2019), Maximilian worked at the Heidelberg Institute for Comparative Law, Conflict of Laws and International Business Law, where he provided expert opinions on French, Italian, and Swiss laws for German courts. Before that, he trained, inter alia, in Tokyo.
Maximilian co-founded a moot capacity-building project in Ethiopia.
