Dr. Maximilian Pika focuses his practice on international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and public international law. As counsel-team member and arbitral assistant, he worked on banking, corporate, energy, oil and gas, and TMT matters involving a welter of applicable treaties (e.g.,Energy Charter Treaty, New York Convention), arbitral rules (e.g.,ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, DIS, Swiss), national laws,and soft-law instruments.
During his doctorate on “Third-Party Effects of Arbitral Awards” (Kluwer, 2019), Maximilian worked at the Institute for Comparative Law, Conflict of Laws and International Business Law in Heidelberg, where he provided expert opinions on French, Italian, and Swiss laws for German courts and arbitral tribunals.
Having trained in Sydney, London, The Hague, Beijing, and Tokyo, he also founded a moot capacity-building project in Ethiopia.
