Dr. Maximilian Pika focuses his practice on international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and public international law. He worked on banking, energy, insurance, life sciences, oil and gas, and TMT matters involving a welter of applicable treaties, arbitral rules (e.g., ICSID, DIS, ICC, SCC, Swiss, UNCITRAL), national laws, and soft-law instruments. He also acted as tribunal assistant. Maximilian is dual-qualified as an English barrister and in his native Germany.
During his doctorate on “Third-Party Effects of Arbitral Awards” (Kluwer, 2019), Maximilian worked at the Institute for Comparative Law, Conflict of Laws and International Business Law in Heidelberg, where he assisted with expert opinions on French, Italian, as well as Swiss laws for German courts. In addition, he co-founded a moot capacity-building project in Ethiopia.
