Michael P. Jones appears before US federal and state courts and administrative agencies to defend clients facing discrimination, retaliation, and harassment claims arising under federal and state statutes, including Title VII, the ADA, and the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act. Mike also has significant experience litigating noncompetition agreements in state and federal courts, and he draws on that experience to draft and advise clients on restrictive covenants.
Mike litigates to enforce and defend against restrictive covenant agreements, in addition to advising and counseling clients about hiring employees with them. He has significant trial and hearing experience litigating complex single plaintiff cases under state and federal anti-discrimination laws including trying cases, successfully arguing dispositive motions, and preserving results on appeal. Mike also litigates wage and hour claims, and defends clients facing claims of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and workplace assault. He draws on his broad experience to advise clients about creating and implementing employment policies and agreements that comply with applicable statutes.
While in law school, Mike interned for Judge David Hittner at the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and Justice Jane Bland of the Texas First Court of Appeals.
