Mikaela Shaw Masoudpour assists employers in navigating a wide range of complex and sensitive employment issues. Mikaela advises clients on a variety of human resources management and compliance issues, including COVID-19 and workplace safety. When litigation occurs, Mikaela defends employers in individual and complex claims arising under numerous federal and local laws, such as Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, OSHA, FLSA, and federal labor laws. Mikaela previously served as a law clerk to Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Mikaela conducts internal investigations involving workplace misconduct and employees at all levels. She regularly trains employees and managers on how to prevent sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Mikaela also drafts, revises, and assists clients with employment policies and agreements, on- and off-boarding documentation, severance and separation packages, warning and discipline documentation, workforce communications, and executive agreements.
Mikaela was elected to the 2022 Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” list, recognizing attorneys excelling in the legal profession with a tenure of five to nine years.
A strong pro bono proponent, Mikaela serves as a member of Morgan Lewis’s Chicago office Pro Bono Committee, as well as the Hiring Committee. In 2018, the National Immigrant Justice Center named her a “Rising Star” for her successful family representation in a complex defensive immigration hearing.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mikaela was a judicial extern for Judge Andrea Wood of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
