Michael R. Libor focuses his practice on complex construction law, product liability, and insurance recovery on construction-related claims. He counsels and represents a variety of construction entities on private and public construction projects and claims, both in the United States and internationally, and prepares and negotiates sophisticated contracts on behalf of owners, design/engineering firms, contractors, and subcontractors for major industrial, power, commercial, and residential projects. He has successfully represented parties in multimillion-dollar claims in federal and state bench and jury trials, arbitrations, and mediations.
Michael represents and advises clients in the construction and design industries, focusing on complex projects and disputes throughout the United States and internationally. These projects include power and pipeline projects, hospitals, large commercial/office developments, school buildings, refineries, preengineered steel buildings, cogeneration facilities, solar and wind projects, industrial facilities, and heavy civil projects. Clients facing legal issues related to the drafting and negotiating of sophisticated contracts, or prosecuting or defending claims of design or construction defects, late or delayed performance, breach of contract, catastrophic failures, mechanics’ liens, construction and bid bonds, insurance recovery, and product failures often seek Michael’s counsel and litigation experience.
Outside of the courtroom, Michael speaks and writes extensively for industry, professional, and legal societies on various topics related to understanding and managing the risks associated with construction projects. He also acts as an arbitrator and mediator on construction claims. Prior to his legal career, he was a systems accountant for Honeywell Inc.
