Michael L. Pillion is the founding partner and assistant leader of the technology, outsourcing, and commercial transactions practice at Morgan Lewis. Michael brings more than 30 years of experience navigating high-stakes transactions to his technology, outsourcing, and commercial transactions practice. He has a diverse client base that spans the health insurance, life sciences, energy, financial services, and real estate industries. He counsels clients in structuring, negotiating, realigning, and terminating information technology (IT) outsourcing and business process outsourcing (BPO) transactions, technology transactions including software as a service (SaaS) and cloud deals, complex commercial transactions including joint ventures, and real estate leasing deals.
Managing some of the largest strategic alliances in the outsourcing industry to date, Michael is recognized in the industry for his ability to dissect complex issues in outsourcing-related contracts.Clients in need of advice on technology and data transactions such as development, licensing, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), information as a service, e-commerce, data acquisition and services, cloud computing, and data center transactions routinely seek his counsel.
He also represents clients in commercial transactions that range from routine to complex. His experience covers real estate leasing matters, acquisitions and divestitures, and strategic alliances. Michael also consults on supply, distribution, consulting services, nondisclosure, and other agreements that support sourcing and supply chain operations.
A frequent speaker on outsourcing and technology transaction matters, Michael appears regularly at business, legal, and professional conferences. He has written several articles on these subjects, and he is often quoted in legal and business journals.
