As a senior member of the firm’s immigration and global mobility team, Nicholas Hobson counsels employers on global immigration matters, including UK immigration law and preparations for Brexit. Nick advises clients on immigration strategy and compliance, prevention of illegal employment, sponsor license applications, and the full range of immigration permissions. Nick also helps lead applicants and their dependents prepare applications for entry clearance (visas), further leave to remain, settlement/permanent residence, and nationality. Nick is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales and as a legal consultant in New York.
Nick’s experience includes handling visa applications for multinational organizations and startups across a variety of sectors including finance, energy, pharmaceuticals, technology, retail, and legal services. He also handles immigration matters for high-profile clients in the media and entertainment, theater, film, and digital sectors.
Nick previously acted as external immigration counsel to the London Organising Committee of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Nick is an active member of the Economic Migration Sub-Committee of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association in New York and the Employment Lawyers Association in the United Kingdom. He contributes regularly to working groups contemplating changes to immigration law, and he has written briefing notes on immigration law for the Practical Law Company, ELA Briefing, and HR Expert. He is ranked as a leading individual in the legal directory Chambers and Partners and is ranked as a “Star Associate” in Chambers UK.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Nick worked at a city law firm in London. Previously, he trained and practiced on qualification in immigration law at a prestigious media law firm in London.
