Saniyyah Harris has 20 years of health and welfare employee benefits experience. More than a decade of her most recent experience has been dedicated to consulting on compliance matters related to group health and welfare plans. Working in the employee benefits practice, Saniyyah is involved in various aspects of client support, with particular focus on issues related to welfare plans, including ERISA, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), COBRA, cafeteria plans, HIPAA, and consumer driven benefits among other topics.

Extended Profile

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Saniyyah served as the director of compliance for a national insurance brokerage and consulting firm. Here she played an integral part in educating colleagues and clients on compliance matters related to employer-sponsored health & welfare plan design and administration. In this role, Saniyyah performed in-depth compliance audits, reviewed and created plan documentation, held trainings, drafted legislative updates, and provided guidance on a range of benefit related topics to assist clients with compliance adherence. She was also a part of the company’s national compliance team which worked to address the overall compliance support needs of the various offices across the country. In this capacity she was instrumental in developing a national Form 5500 platform with the ability to provide more than 50+ offices nationwide with a Form 5500 solution for clients.

Working as a health & welfare compliance consultant for many years, Saniyyah was also a HIPAA privacy officer where she oversaw HIPAA privacy obligations for her employer’s role as a business associate.

Saniyyah has also held roles in group health plan and insurance customer service, administration and underwriting during her employee benefits career span of over 20 years.
