Stephen Altieri, Ph.D., focuses his practice on patent counseling, procurement, and licensing in the life sciences industry. Throughout his career, Steve has represented clients of all sizes, specializing in emerging biotech companies. He creates and develops US and international intellectual property rights that are aligned with client business objectives, including working closely with scientific personnel to identify patenting opportunities and competitive advantages. Steve also assists clients in partnering and investment transactions.

Steve’s subject area focus is broadly in the life sciences, including immunotherapies, nucleic acid therapeutics, microbiome agents, gene-editing technologies, antibodies, drug delivery, diagnostics, and cell-based therapies.

Steve, a Fulbright Fellow, received his Ph.D. from Yale University from the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. His doctoral research examined mechanisms of ion channel activation, particularly the structural and molecular basis of gating in cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels. After finishing at Yale, Steve received his J.D. from Boston College Law School, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif.

Steve also serves as co-chair of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council’s Entrepreneur University.
