Thomas R. Davis represents US and international companies in the technology, financial services, utilities, oil and gas, and retail sectors in intellectual property (IP) disputes including patent litigation, prelitigation counseling, trade secrets misappropriation, and other technology-focused litigation. Thomas also assists clients with patent procurement, opinion work, licensing, trademark matters, and IP portfolio management. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in various federal jurisdictions across the United States. Thomas’s work also includes commercial litigation, class action defense, and appellate practice.
Thomas’s clients benefit from the breadth and depth of his experience across numerous technologies. In computer hardware and software, his cases have involved dynamic random access memory (DRAM), hard disk drives, flash memory storage and flash memory management, digital rights management (DRM), secure computer networks, operating system kernels, networking, wired and wireless printers and printing technology, streaming video, data compression, and over-the-air updates. For cases involving ecommerce and business methods, he has worked with secure financial and derivatives trading, foreign exchange methods, and funds transfers. He has experience with various oilfield technologies including top drive drilling, drilling with casing, seismic imaging, and using survey data for downhole tool placement. He also has experience in numerous other fields including vehicle wrap technology for reducing drag, light emitting diodes, and cellular/smart phone technologies including inertial measurement units, gyroscopes, accelerometers, and magnetometers.
