Morgan Lewis | Is Safe Harbor Safe Once More?
privacy shield
Please join us for a discussion about the European Court of Justice decision in Schrems (in which the EU-US Safe Harbor framework was invalidated) and the European Commission’s latest announcement of an “EU-US Privacy Shield,” which must still be approved by European bodies. We will discuss options for organizations to transfer personal data to the United States and other countries outside Europe, such as standard contractual clauses and binding corporate rules, as well as consent. We will also discuss what steps international organizations can start to consider to implement the new General Data Protection Regulation, which is due to become effective in early 2018.
