Increasing diversity in the legal profession undoubtedly addresses a history of exclusionary laws and practices.  Diversity also has a business benefit too – it often leads to better questions, analyses, solutions, and processes. In-house counsel can make an impact on this issue through their decisions regarding which outside law firms represent their companies. Morgan Lewis has invited in-house counsel from Bank of America, Microsoft, Verizon, and Wal-Mart to discuss and share some of their thoughts and best practices for increasing diversity through their use of outside counsel.

  • Moderator: Joan Haratani, Partner, Morgan Lewis
  • Alan Bryan, Associate General Counsel, Legal Administration & External Relations, Outside Counsel Management, Wal-Mart
  • Jin Hwang, Managing Assistant General Counsel, Verizon and President-Elect of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association
  • Joe Lee, Assistant General Counsel, Microsoft
  • Ted Ting, Assistant General Counsel, Bank of America and President of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area
