China is experiencing an economic slowdown since the new leadership took power in 2012, which they sugarcoated as the "new normal."
To counter this headwind, the Chinese government launched a policy of encouraging people to start their own businesses and make their own innovations. But China’s leaders also understand that such a policy is fruitless without a legal system that offers strong IP protection. This is likely one of the reasons that China is preparing to launch a new round of amendments to its patent law, which was last amended in 2009.
