As the use of "big data" becomes more prevalent in the oilfield, there has been much discussion about how to protect intellectual property rights relating to the manner and methods of collecting the data - but perhaps even more important is the protection of IP rights in the data itself. Proprietary data generated using new technology, and the algorithms used to analyze such data, are now often the lifeblood of a company in this industry. Accordingly, this program will examine best practices for protecting such sensitive information, including:
