The US Patent Office calculates Patent Term Adjustment (PTA) and publishes it on the face of a patent. This number, however, is computer generated and may contain errors, especially when the items are misidentified on Public PAIR. We will discuss how to properly calculate the patent term of a US patent and how to maximize the patent term without any additional cost.
