Association of Corporate Counsel’s Corporate Law Forum: Navigating US Tax Reform—What You Need to Know

Tuesday, March 20, 2018
12:00 PM - 02:00 PM ET

On December 22, 2017, President Donald Trump signed HR 1, the tax bill formerly known as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, enacting fundamental changes to the US tax code. The changes affect all sectors of the economy, with wide-ranging implications for all corporations alike.

Join us for this course hosted by The Association of Corporate Counsel’s National Capital Region and Morgan Lewis to gain increased perspective on the new tax law and how these changes will impact your business, and gain a broader perspective on the considerations faced by your business’s finance, tax, and executive teams, regardless of your degree of tax knowledge. All are welcome at this event, from tax novices to tax experts.

Topics will include:

  • Impact of the corporate tax rate reduction and repeal of the corporate Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT)
  • Special rules for pass-throughs, including partnerships and LLCs
  • Limitations on uses of net operating losses
  • Limitations on deductions of interest
  • New 100% expensing rules for equipment
  • International operations of US businesses and US operations of foreign businesses, including new rules on Global Intangible Low Tax Income (GILTI), Foreign Derived Intangible Income (FDII), Base Erosion and Anti-Abuse Tax (BEAT), and the transition tax
