Employee and Independent Contractor Classification Following California Assembly Bill 5

California Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5), signed into law on September 18, establishes difficult standards for classifying workers as independent contractors. Many California companies have already been adopting modified practices following the California Supreme Court’s 2018 decision in Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. Superior Court to ensure compliance and to minimize misclassification claims.
