Morgan Lewis and A&M Taxand Webinar — Research Credits: Rethinking Qualification and Documentation Processes in a New Normal

Thursday, May 14, 2020
02:00 PM - 03:00 PM ET
01:00 PM - 02:00 PM CT
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PT

2020 has brought a number of changes that will require taxpayers and preparers to rethink how research credits should be claimed and documented. The IRS added research issues to the list of formal campaigns in February 2020 and this will bring a more coordinated audit process and risk assessment for research credit and deductions. In addition, typical documentation procedures have been disrupted with COVID-19. This seminar will focus on best practices for taxpayers to consider as they are documenting research credits and deductions in light of recent changes.

Topics will include:

  • Implications of IRS Campaign Designation on Research Credit Claims
  • Updates on Current Trends in IRS Audit and Appeals
  • Rethinking Best Practices for Documenting Research Credits
  • Challenging Standard Methodologies in a COVID-19 World
  • Hot Topics and Pending Cases

  • Alex Sadler, Partner, Morgan Lewis
  • Doug Norton, Associate, Morgan Lewis
  • Kathleen King, R&D Practice Leader, A&M Taxand
