Update on Post-Grant Proceedings

Since the America Invests Act (AIA) instituted post-grant proceedings, the number of AIA petitions filed to request the post-grant proceedings has increased rapidly. In the last fiscal year, 1,429 petitions were filed for inter partes review, 20 petitions were filed for covered business methods, and 64 petitions were filed for post-grant review. This program reviewed recent updates from the courts and practical use of post-grant proceedings in litigation.
