In this second session, partner Todd Liao and associate Sylvia Hu provide an overview of China’s legislative updates and the updates’ impacts on multinational corporations and discuss practical guidelines for managing the cross-border transfer of data in China under the Measures for Security Assessment of Cross-Border Data Transfer (Measures), that took effect in September 2022.

The Measures formulate a security assessment mechanism for cross-border data transfers covering important data and personal information, which substantiates the relevant provisions under the Cybersecurity Law, Data Security Law, and Personal Information Protection Law.
